Sam D. Hamilton Noxubee National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) is located in three counties (Noxubee, Oktibbeha, and Winston) and was created from lands obtained through the 1930s Resettlement Administration. Noxubee National Wildlife Refuge was established on June 14, 1940 with the purpose of being a refuge and breeding ground for migratory birds and other wildlife. It is meant to conserve, manage, and restore the fish, wildlife, and plant resources and their inhabitants for the benefit of present and future generations.
